I ordered a cherry Negroni and it was the best Negroni I’ve ever had. They are the type of restaurant that steps up the game when they have critics in the house but beyond that truly mediocre and that goes for their other properties. We visited around11 am.
About 25 minutes later our entrees arrived- which would have ben fine except for the fact we never received our appetizers.

The artichokes tortellini ( soo good and well seasoned). Brunch did not disappoint!

When you pay $100/person for dinner you expect a different level of service. How dressy is it? The only highlights of the several dishes we bought were the house made bread with sea salt butter and the pork belly. Just blocks from the Denver Performing Arts Complex and Pepsi Center. Love Rioja and look forward to returning. Tables had lots of space, all the staff was masked and conscientious. Rioja is simple, pure food that emphasizes bright flavors & textures.
Also the bread is fantastic!More, We went to Rioja when the resturant reopened for in resturant dining. Our server Robin was wonderful. You get an overload of bread pre-meal with homemade butter. There is a lot of choice on the menu and the chef is always willing to make modifications to an entree.
Would go back for those two alone. It was not expected and such a nice, personalized touch. But it was great. A parking garage is located directly behind the restaurant on Market Street. The Liberty Farms duck breast was a home run: perfectly cooked, enveloped in crispy skin, and served with artichoke hearts, Colorado plums, braised cipollini onions, farro verde risotto, and duck jus. The dinner was done well, the cocktails were fantastic (and expensive), and the service was above average at this "Mediterranean inspired" restaurant.
