Absurd. The Jack of Fables crossover is pretty bland, Jack himself is a terrible character and the adventure that the rest of the Fables crew go on have no character development and have no consequence to the overall universe. Jack is the central figure, just as he likes, and its pretty spectacular. I'm not surprised, given that they drew "inspiration" from firing automatic weapons in a shooting range. Or read at all, actually -- something about the visual/text combination doesn't work for me. The second story is much more interesting, covering the beginnings of a revolution by some of the fables. I'm not a big fan of murder mysteries, so I wasn't really into the first story in this volume. "Werewolves of the heartland" was an interesting sequel to bigby's WWII sequence, but the artist was nothing special. Start by marking “Fables: The Deluxe Edition, Book Ten” as Want to Read: Error rating book.
So I've given every Fables deluxe book so far a full 5 score, loving every moment of the story...with the last two deluxe volumes (8-9..Frog Prince, War, Dark Ages etc) being the strongest of the bunch.
Stories that most people would know brought into modern day was well planed and fun to read I want to read more in the sires to see where it goes. The covers until issue #81 were done by James Jean, after which João Ruas took over as cover artist. Again in retrospect, it's this anything-goes attitude the writers fell into that destroyed the original idea.

That said, it also contains the entirety of Werewolves Of The Heartland, which I reviewed as its own book and which seems, honestly, a bit like filler. The art is spot on and a joy. I loved the clever Literal storyline, but the Rose Red arc felt so gross and the Wolves of the Heartland story lacked stakes. I kinda feel that Saga gave me a high standard I now expect from comics :D Also, I liked story of The Wolf Among Us game a bit more than this. I couldn't help wondering whether I would have felt less lost, especially with the whole thing regarding Thorn, if the Jack series was more familiar to me. Being only the first volume, it isn't perfect but that only means there is plenty of room for it to grow even more awesome - can't wait to read the next volumes (and at this rate, I'll have caught up with the whole series by christmas!
